Active Mitigation

Examples of Active Mitigation Measures:

  • Rock Bolts and Bolting

  • Anchored Wire Mesh

  • Anchored Cable Nets or Ring Nets

  • Tensioned Cable Lashing

Active mitigation is the reduction of driving forces and/or the increase of resisting forces associated with slope failure.  The stabilization of rockfall on slopes can be accomplished by a variety of construction methods.  The method for stabilization differs on individual site conditions. In some case combinations of methods are need to stabilize the slope and reduce potential rockfall hazards.
