Rockfall Barriers

Rockfall Barriers consists of I-beam posts spaced at certain intervals with a wire rope support system running from post to post with special friction devices placed in the support ropes. Then wire rope nets are attached to the support system and backed with a wire mesh. All of the anchors used in this system must meet required pull-out strength as determined by the rockfall energies the system will be absorbing.

This type of system is generally used where there is sufficient catchment from the toe of the slope to the area being protected. There are several types of installations that can be utilized depending on rock size, velocities and bounce heights to control and stop the rockfalls. These systems have been extensively engineered and field tested to assure they function as required.
